Spain’s David Matamoros of Doce Entertainment has joined the production team for the film adaptation of the Chilean cult novel Patas de perro (English title: Dog Legs). The agreement was reached during one of the later deals pacted at the San Sebastian Festival, a key marketplace for international film financing.

Matamoros’ involvement brings a seasoned Spanish producer into a project that already features a diverse international consortium. He joins four other producers representing Chile, France, Germany and Colombia. The collaboration is designed to secure the remaining financing needed to move the project into the final phase of its funding cycle, according to Variety.

The partnership underscores the growing trend of cross‑border co‑production in Latin American cinema, allowing projects to tap into multiple markets and funding streams. By bringing together producers from five different countries, the film’s producers aim to position Dog Legs for both critical and commercial success at major festivals and on international distribution platforms.

With the final financing hurdle cleared, the production is expected to enter pre‑production soon, followed by principal photography and post‑production. The project’s completion will likely set the stage for festival premieres and a broader release strategy in the coming years.
