Samsung Galaxy users can now lock individual apps or restrict access to all but one app to protect sensitive data. Engadget reports that the phones include two privacy‑focused features: one lets you lock any chosen applications with a PIN, pattern, or biometric credential, while the other locks every app except a single one you designate as always unlocked. Both options aim to keep personal information and files private.

To activate the feature, users navigate to the device’s Settings menu and locate the security or privacy section. From there, they can enable the app‑locking function and select the applications they wish to protect. The second setting allows the user to choose a single app that remains freely accessible, automatically locking all other apps until the lock is disabled.

These capabilities are particularly useful for people who share their phone with family members, work in environments where confidentiality is paramount, or simply want to prevent accidental use of certain applications. By requiring a credential before an app opens, the lock helps safeguard sensitive data such as banking apps, messaging services, or personal documents.
